New City temple reopens after firePosted: Updated:
The West Clarkstown Jewish Center is reopening a year after being badly damaged in a fire.
The fire was caused by a tree that fell on a nearby power line last August.
During the rebuilding, vandals struck, smearing spackle on the windows and walls and defecating on the floors inside.
The repairs to the center were reported to be $1 million, but the center?s president said that the setbacks brought out the best in the community.
