Removal of cemetery barrier irks Nyack residents

A row of trees that separated a group of Nyack condominiums from a nearby cemetery was recently knocked down, sparking ire within the condo community.
Linda Arico, a resident in the Village Gate Condominiums, complains that the trees were a haven for local wildlife, in addition to a cemetery barrier.
"We have pictures of deer coming out of those trees all the time and how peaceful and secluded it was," Arico says. "It was such a beautiful setting. That is why we moved here, and we loved living here."
The trees were knocked down to make way for new graves at the cemetery.
Calls to the cemetery and the Nyack village attorney were not returned.
