NYPD detective from HV retires after 42 years

A NYPD detective from Rockland County is hanging up his badge after 42 years on the job.
Detective Kevin Moroney, who was based in the Bronx, joined the police academy at 21 and was promoted to detective 10 years later.
During his long tenure on the job, he says he?s been involved in a lot of things, but says, ?I've been involved in a lot of extraordinary things but I?m not a hero, I?m just doing my job and in certain circumstances doing the best I could.?
Sgt. Ralph Ceilento, his commanding officer, says that Moroney?s mentoring is what made him stand out in the precinct.
Moroney says he doesn?t have any plans yet, but does want to spend more time with his wife and kids.
