Ex-Garnerville priest accused of stealing church funds

The Archdiocese of New York and the Rockland County District Attorney's Office are investigating allegations that a priest may have stolen money from a Garnerville church.
Father Thomas Kreiser unexpectedly left his position as parish priest at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church last June.
Parishioners were originally told Kreiser left for personal and medical reasons, but now the priest is being accused of misappropriating church funds.
"Following a review of the administration of the parish, including an audit insisted upon by the archdiocese, it was learned that father's difficulties led to the mismanagement of some parish funds," according to St. Gregory Brabarigo Church's bulletin.
The archdiocese says it has turned over the results of its audit to Rockland County authorities.
