Heart attack victim saved at Mt. Kisco gym
A Mount Kisco man is recovering from a heart attack after two personal trainers came to his rescue at the gym last week.
Mount Kisco Athletic Club personal trainer Val Yaskovic says the 64-year-old man collapsed in the cardio section of the gym around 9 a.m. Thursday.
After instructing another employee to call 911, fitness director Kathy Margiasso and Yaskovic started to work on the victim using an Automatic External Defibrillator. They shocked him and began chest compressions.
The man was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital where he later underwent double bypass surgery.
When dealing with someone in cardiac arrest, Margiasso says speed is the key to success.
