Torah left on Short Line Bus

Posted: Updated:

Police say a nearly three-decade old Torah was left behind on a Short Line Bus by an unknown passenger yesterday.

The Torah was found in Brooklyn by Donna Young, a Short Line employee, who turned it over to Moses Witriol in Kiryas Joel.

In addition to its religious and sentimental value, officials say the Torah is worth about $50,000.

Anyone with information about the Torah or who may have left it on the bus is asked to call Kiryas Joel Public Safety at 845-782-5577 To watch an interview about the search for the owner of a lost Torah, go to channel 612 on your iO digital cable box and select iO Extra.
