Cops: Illegal weapons cache discovered in Monroe
A Monroe man is behind bars after police say they discovered a massive weapons cache at his house early Monday morning.
Officers were called to the house after they say Thomas Wesbecker accidentally shot himself in the hand.
Police say they confiscated five handguns, three rifles, an assault rifle and two flare guns. According to police, they also found more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition for the guns.
Police say that the handguns did not have permits and that some off the guns were illegally modified.
Authorities say that Wesbecker has no record of domestic violence, but his wife and two children say that he would threaten violence if any of his family were to go to the police.
