HV school budgets get mixed response from voters
The budgets of two Hudson Valley school districts were rejected by voters this week, while East Ramapo's budget passed.
East Ramapo's $196-million spending plan will result in a 4-percent to 8-percent tax hike depending on state and federal aid. But the revised budget will still result in 101 staff layoffs and Hillcrest Elementary School being shuttered.
The budgets for the Highland Falls-Montgomery and Minisink Valley school districts were defeated.
