A West Point cadet is facing trial on rape charges.
Kyle Newman has pleaded guilty to disciplinary charges that included being off campus without permission and having an illegal sexual relationship with a higher-ranking cadet.
By pleading guilty to the disciplinary charges, Newman has forfeited his right to remain in the Army.
But the rape charges are the most serious charges he faces. According to the Army prosecutor, the alleged attacks happened in the Village of Highland Falls in February 2009 and on the historic grounds of the military academy in October of the same year.
