HV districts largely pass school budgets
Hudson Valley voters cast their ballots yesterday for school budget plans, largely voting in favor of all of the proposals with the exception of very few.
Voters defeated an $83 million budget plan in Minisink.
Million-dollar budget plans in Clarkstown, Ramapo and South Orangetown were all approved and will all come with tax hikes for voters in their district. Florida and Warwick's budgets also passed with their included tax hikes.
Students and voters in the East Ramapo School District turned out for a strategic town meeting last night after their school budget was defeated last week. The district now has until the end of the month to either revise the budget, or go into an austerity budget which comes with a $5.6 million cut in funding.
