Local leaders call Paterson's budget 'devastating'

Local politicians voiced their concerns about Gov. David Paterson's proposed budget plans at a Greenburgh hearing Friday.
"The magnitude of the governor's cuts will be devastating to both our city and our school budgets," says Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone. The mayor told state senators gathered at Greenburgh Town Hall that if things don't change, Yonkers will have to lay off hundreds and cut services drastically.
"The real problem is a bloated Albany government," says Sen. Jeff Klein, one of the senators holding the hearing.
Paterson says the state faces a multibillion-dollar budget crisis and that drastic cuts are needed to fix the problems.
