Feds blame driver for Harrison Toyota crash
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, no brakes were applied by the driver of a 2005 Toyota Prius when she slammed into a stone wall in Harrison back in March.
Federal investigators and a crash investigation team from Toyota have been probing the March 9 crash that sent one woman to the hospital, after she says the car lurched forward unexpectedly, sending her across two lanes of traffic, and crashed.
"Information retrieved from the vehicle's onboard computer systems indicated there was no application of the brakes and the throttle was fully open," says NHTSA.
Harrison police have not ruled out driver error as the cause of the crash, but they say they want to investigate all possibilities before jumping to conclusions.
