Vanderhoef delivers State of County addressPosted: Updated:
Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef delivered his 17th annual State of the County address Tuesday night, painting a grim economic picture of the county's future.
Vanderhoef said he doesn't expect the situation to improve this year, but added that the county will survive the crisis.
Rockland already has a $10-$12 million budget deficit, while the county's unemployment rate reached a high of 7.5 percent in January.
Vanderhoef, however, offered some positive news, saying that four New Jersey companies are expected to move to the county, bringing nearly 400 jobs.
In his speech, Vanderhoef also pushed for Medicaid reform, asking the state to foot more of the bill for the program.
