Vanderhoef gives State of the County address

Posted: Updated:

Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef gave his 17th State of the County address Tuesday night in New City.

Vanderhoef focused on the lagging economy and lack of revenue. Rockland is currently facing multimillion-dollar losses in sales tax and property taxes because of the recession. The executive says county government is working to help more struggling residents with less money.

According to Vanderhoef, temporary county government jobs will be eliminated to save money.

Vanderhoef presented a five-point plan to combat the economic downturn, as well as what he calls "politics as usual" in Albany.
