Police looking for link between murders

Newburgh police are investigating two murders that happened just 24 hours apart last week to see if the incidents are related.
According to authorities, 20-year-old Jerome Scarlett was gunned down on Farrington Street Thursday night and 21-year-old John Maldonado was fatally shot three times on Friday.
Police say they received reports that Maldonado was at the scene of Scarlett's murder. Both of the killings are thought to be gang-related, authorities say.
Police believe Maldonado may have been killed in retribution for Scarlett's death. Maldonado's girlfriend says Maldonado believed he was a gang target.
