HV bracing for massive rainstorm
Highway crews across the Hudson Valley are clearing catch basins ahead of a massive rainstorm that is expected to leave several inches of water on the ground over the weekend.
The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Rockland County from Saturday through Sunday morning. Highway workers say they're preparing for the storm in an effort to prevent flooding.
"The ground is all saturated," says Bernard Hughes, of the Rockland County Highway Department. "It's going to come to a point where it can't go anywhere."
Many homeowners who live in areas prone to flooding are taking steps to minimize water damage by emptying out their basements.
