Clarkstown crews tackle pothole problem
Work crews in Rockland County set out to repair potholes that have become a cause of frustration for local drivers.
The pothole problem has been made worse this year because of the severe and frequent snowstorms that walloped the region.
Clarkstown Highway Department workers traveled to New Jersey to pick up eight tons of hot mix. They used the blacktop to fill holes off First Street and along Brewery Road in New City.
Potholes result from water seeping under the road, freezing, expanding and eventually ripping the pavement.
