Members of the Warwick Fire Department are rallying behind Chief Gregg Snigur, who has been battling cancer for more than a year.
The department is planning a fundraiser to help Snigur pay for some of his medical expenses not covered by his insurance.
"Everybody is like a family, so when somebody is hurting, you want to do the most you can for them," says Frank Corkum, of the Warwick Fire Department.
Snigur, who has been fighting fires for more than a decade, has remained the leader of the department throughout his fight with the illness.
The fundraiser for Snigur will be held at the Warwick firehouse March 13.
