Man arrested in alleged DWI crash with kids
A Middletown man was arrested Thursday after police say he drove drunk with two kids in the car and crashed.
Police say Manny Toro, 40, crossed the double yellow line on Mud Mills Road in Wallkill and slammed head-on into another car shortly after 6 p.m.
The two boys who were in Toro's car, aged 5 and 7, sustained serious injuries to their heads and faces. Police say the children weren't wearing seatbelts.
Toro is being charged with driving while intoxicated, child endangerment and aggravated vehicular assault.
Under the new Leandra's Law, it is a felony to drive drunk with a child under the age of 15 in the vehicle.
