Haiti quake survivor from HV returns home
A Haverstraw woman who survived the Haiti earthquake returned safely to the Hudson Valley last week.
Kerlyne Armand was visiting her husband in Port-au-Prince when the disaster hit. The quake damaged their home, making it unsafe to stay inside during the aftershocks that followed.
Armand's husband lost his brother and a cousin in the earthquake, and she says rescue teams were overwhelmed by the casualties.
Armand's co-workers at the New City Boston Market spent days trying to reach her. They eventually managed to contact her and wire her money.
Armand says due to financial constraints, she has no plans to visit her husband in Haiti anytime soon.
