Sen. Schumer unveils job creation bill

Posted: Updated:

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) held a round table discussion with workers and small business leaders in Congers Wednesday about his proposed bill aimed at job creation.

Schumer says under his legislation, businesses that hire people who have been unemployed for at least 60 days will be given tax credits immediately instead of waiting until the end of the year.

However, Ben Katzentsein, vice president of Star Kay White Confectioners factory where Schumer spoke Wednesday, says the math in the bill doesn't add up.

"If I spend $250,000 in hiring, I save $10,000," he says. "Am I really going to spend a quarter of a million dollars to save $10,000?"
