Local volunteers honored for mission to Haiti
The Village of Spring Valley held a ceremony Tuesday to honor more than a dozen Haitian-American volunteers who returned from a humanitarian mission to Haiti.
Nathalia Bosquet, who traveled to the devastated island nation in January, says she originally planned to aid with delivering supplies, but almost immediately she ended up helping the wounded.
"My mind is still in war zone mode, which is what I can compare it to," she says.
During the ceremony, Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin thanked the volunteers for the sacrifices they made in helping earthquake victims.
