Prayer service held for New City 4th-grader
Students at the religious education program at St. Francis Church in New City held a prayer service Wednesday for a fourth-grader who died of a brain hemorrhage.
"It's just something that happens so suddenly and you don't have time to prepare for it," says Kathy Powers, the aunt of 9-year old Caitlin Powers.
Powers says her niece showed no signs of the hemorrhage prior to her death Monday. The girl was described as being active in sports at Laurel Plains Elementary School.
The wake for Caitlin Powers will be held Friday at the Higgin Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place Saturday at Saint Francis Church.
