Wake held for boy killed in crash
Family and friends gathered in Tappan Thursday to remember an 11-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a car while crossing a busy road in Palisades.
Mourners gathered at Moritz Funeral Home to comfort the grieving family of Jordan Barreto, a sixth-grader at South Orangetown Middle School who died Saturday on Route 9W.
No charges were filed against the driver of the car that struck Barreto.
Grief counselors will be available at South Orangetown Middle School Friday and next week.
Orangetown Town Supervisor Paul Whalen will meet with Department of Transportation officials Friday to discuss what improvements should be made near the intersection where Barreto was killed.
