Police: Woman dies after driving car into pool

Police in New York say a woman apparently backed her car into her backyard pool and drowned.
Clarkstown police spokesman Sgt. Harry Baumann says 52-year-old Marianne Bax, of West Nyack, was pronounced dead Wednesday after police broke through the sunroof of the submerged Mercedes Benz and pulled her out.
He said foul play had been ruled out and the death seemed to be accidental, but suicide had not been discounted. A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Baumann says Bax's husband was at a Rangers game Tuesday night, and when he came home, he and his son went searching for the woman. Bax was reported missing Wednesday morning.
According to Baumann, Bax drove across more than 100 feet of lawn and through a chain-link fence at 45 Continental Drive before dropping into the pool.
