A West Nyack Elementary School crossing guard was injured after being struck by a car in front of the school Friday.

Police say the incident happened at around 3:20 p.m. on West Nyack Road as students were being dismissed from school.

Witnesses say the crossing guard, 74-year-old Nick Zoda, of Nanuet, was directing traffic around the scene of an accident involving two cars when a third car plowed into him.

Clarkstown police say Zoda's injuries do not appear to be life threatening. No charges have been filed against the driver.
