Governor set to give State of the State address
(AP) - Gov. David Paterson will present his secondState of the State speech with a pledge to clean up Albany'snotorious pay-to-play politics and corruption. The Democrat will detail his plan Wednesday to reduce theinfluence of money in campaigns and to force lawmakers to disclosedetails of their outside income and any clients who might havebusiness with the state. The address to a joint session of the Legislature comes asPaterson is already at odds with lawmakers. They've been feudingmonths over what he insists is a need to reduce Albany's spendingand Paterson is already making it appear the Legislature is balkingat significant reform of ethics laws. Paterson, low in the polls and in need of campaign cash, isseeking election to a four-year term this year.
