New details emerge after massive child porn sting in NYC area
More information is emerging about the local individuals arrested in New York's largest-ever child pornography sting.
The sting called Operation Caireen resulted in the seizure of nearly 600 desktop and laptop computers, tablets, smartphones and other devices containing massive amounts of child pornography.
Seventy-one people were arrested, including a police officer, a rabbi, a nurse and other respected members of the community.
John Asmodeo, 30, of Carmel, is accused of secretly taping children. Reports say he is accused of setting up a camera to capture his son's 9-year-old female friend changing clothes. His computer also allegedly had lewd images of teen girls exposing themselves.
Asmodeo's neighbor Brian Martin admits he's not surprised by the allegations or the arrest. Martin says he's concerned about the children living on this block now that Asmodeo has posted bail.
Christian Cote, of Kent, was charged with possession of child porn. Cote also posted bail after his arrest. Reports claim Cote had images of naked girls between the ages of 7 and 10 years old on his computer.
Neighbors News 12 spoke with say Cote was somewhat of a recluse. They say they never saw him around and it appeared he only checked his mail once every two weeks.
The offenders are now facing anywhere from seven to 25 years in prison. Prosecutors say many of them will be facing additional charges, and they expect more arrests to be made.
