Drug maker Pfizer Inc. announced Monday that the company has chosen the Pearl River campus as one of its five main research facilities.
The decision comes on the heels of Pfizer's $68 billion purchase of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, the largest employer in Rockland County.
"When an organization such as Pfizer takes about 20 facilities and consolidates them down to five, and our facility here in Rockland County is one of the five, that's great news," says Rockland Business Association President and CEO Al Samuels.
Samuels says he has been previously concerned about the outlook for jobs remaining on the Pearl River campus following Pfizer's acquisition of Wyeth in October.
