New MTA-bailout tax called unfair

Rockland business owners say a new state tax instituted to help bail out the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is unfair and should be overturned.
Many in Rockland and Orange say they should be spared the tax because the MTA provides far fewer services to those counties than anywhere else in the transportation agency's 12-county service area.
"The harsh economic times are affecting everybody so instead of trying to help us, they're piling it on," says Simone Ditouni, a small business owner in Rockland.
