Monroe councilman arrested in Town Hall brawlPosted: Updated:
A Monroe town councilman was arrested Thursday for allegedly attacking a fellow council member during a budget meeting.
The alleged victim, Councilman Harley Doles, has an order of protection against Councilman Jim Rogers, who denied allegations of assault following his arraignment.
Doles says on Wednesday, Rogers attacked him for opposing what he calls an illegal town meeting being planned in secret. Doles claims other town council members and Supervisor Sandy Leonard don't like him for questioning hundreds of thousands of dollars in spending.
Doles says he suffered high blood pressure and back pain as a result of the attack. Rogers is due back in court next Wednesday.
