Autopsies revealed the pit bulls found in a Dumpster two weeks ago died from dog fighting injuries, Crawford police say.

Four pit bulls were found tied up in black garbage bags in a Dumpster off Route 17K in Crawford. Police say the autopsies showed the dogs bled to death from bites and tears on their heads, shoulders and paws.

Authorities say they are following several leads to find the people responsible for the dogs' deaths.

Animal activists, like Suzyn Barron with the Warwick Humane Society, say dog fighting has become too common.
