Part of AIDS quilt on display at RCC

A portion of the AIDS memorial quilt, honoring those who lost their lives to the virus, went on display Thursday at Rockland Community College.
Holding hands, volunteers unfolded 2,000 patches of the quilt corner by corner, unveiling pictures and words of remembrance before hundreds of people who attended the ceremony.
The portion of the quilt on display at RCC represents only about 4 percent of the entire quilt.
"People have forgotten the impact of AIDS," says Robert Maher, of Touch, the group that sponsored the event.
The quilt will be on display at RCC through Saturday afternoon.
