Suffern yeshiva misses deadline to fix problems

Ramapo officials are expected to seek an injunction to shut down an illegal yeshiva after the school's organizers have failed to fix violations by the Wednesday deadline.
On Wednesday, students returned to Yeshiva Ohel Yachanan on Highview Road, even though the school has been issued multiple safety violations for operating out of a private, wood frame house.
"They haven't applied for any of the permits or any of the planning approvals," says Ramapo Town Attorney Michael Klein.
Klein adds that an inspection of the school found that its fire alarm is not connected to the county's fire control center, and there are problems related to school bus access.
