The Rye girls soccer team has followed up a championship year in 2008 with a stellar beginning to the new season.

The Garnets could be even better than last year after returning nine of 11 starters. The woman's soccer team is unbeaten in its first six games, including a 1-0 win over rival Byram Hills last week.

"You can't let them think they're better than they really are and it gets them to work every day," says Rich Savage, the Rye head coach. "But they're actually working really hard and we are pushing to be better each and every day."
