State police crack down on drag racing
State police issued 27 tickets in Nanuet Wednesday night to drivers who were allegedly drag racing on the New York State Thruway.
"It's a danger to the public to have people driving at unsafe speeds or even drag racing on our roadways, and it will not be tolerated," says Sgt. John Antonelli, of the New York State Police.
State troopers say drag racers have been known to stop traffic while the races are under way on the Garden State Parkway in Chestnut Ridge.
Authorities urge anyone who hears or sees drivers drag racing to call 911.
