Middletown mayoral race heats up

Posted: Updated:

Candidates in the Middletown mayoral race are gearing up for the Democratic primary next week that will pit the incumbent against a former mayor.

Mayor Marlinda Duncanson says she's feeling good about her chances in the race and is proud of the work she's done in Middletown.

Former Mayor Joe DeStefano, who resigned in 2005 amid a financial disclosure scandal, says the residents of Middletown are not satisfied with his opponent's job performance and want him back.

Republican Jim Kitson, a Middletown alderman for the fourth ward, will face off against the winner of Tuesday's Democratic primary.
