Residents of Pearl River are coming to the defense of a local principal who was fired last week.
Fred Weitz, principal of Lincoln Elementary, was let go by the School Board for allegedly telling off-color jokes and not following proper procedures. His last day as principal is Aug. 31.
George Lanzaro and other parents whose children attend Lincoln Elementary say they are upset Weitz was fired.
"I thought he was excellent, very caring to my son's needs," Lanzaro says.
