Parade float dedicated to Laura Garza

Missing Brooklyn woman Laura Garza was on the minds of many who attended the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in Manhattan Sunday.
Hours before the parade started, volunteers with the group Emergency Rights Incorporated readied a float they dedicated to Garza, who has been missing since Dec. 3, 2008. Garza was last seen leaving a Manhattan club with Michel Mele, a convicted sex offender from Orange County.
Mele is currently in jail on a probation violation and has not been charged in connection with Garza's disappearance.
Volunteers collected $5,000 to put the float together. And while Garza's heritage is Mexican, volunteers are appealing to everyone in the Hispanic community for their help in finding her.
