Judge tosses Rockland County's FAA lawsuit
A lawsuit challenging a Federal Aviation Administration plan to reroute hundreds of planes over Rockland County was rejected Friday.
Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef says he will appeal the decision to dismiss the lawsuit. The county executive adds that the FAA and the federal court ignored quality of life issues cited in the county's argument against the plan.
"It is a fight for what's right, and the federal government in this case the FAA [is] wrong and should redo this design," he says.
Vanderhoef admits the county is fighting an uphill battle. However, many Rockland County residents are supporting the pushback against the FAA.
"It's just another abomination to destroy the quality of life in Rockland," says Harry Yolles, of Haverstraw.
