S. Orangetown schools disinfected amid flu fears

Posted: Updated:

South Orangetown students returned to class Wednesday after all of the district's school buildings were disinfected overnight in attempt to ward off the swine flu virus.

"The janitors are cleaning up our doorknobs and railings and stuff, so I'm not that concerned," says South Orangetown Middle School sixth-grader Brian Kearney.

So far, there have been no reports of students or staff in the South Orangetown School District getting sick, and there are no confirmed cases of swine flu in the Hudson Valley.

However, some local parents say they are scared by what they hear on the news.

"I don't want anything to happen to my family," says parent Virginia Bonardi. "So we're all worried, everybody in the school."
