Police search for high school brawl suspects

Police say they're searching for a teen or teens who hit another student in the head with a baseball bat, sending the victim to the hospital to receive stitches.
A fight involving a bat broke out between 40 high school boys Saturday night on the athletic fields at Pearl River High School, police say. The fight allegedly pitted students from Tappan Zee and Nanuet high schools.
Orangetown police say the injured boy was treated and released for a two-inch gash to his head. Police and students are only speculating why the fight erupted.
"It's like a town rivalry. They just don't like each other, so they're not going to not fight each other," says Shannon McLoughlin, a Nanuet High School sophomore.
No arrests have been made yet. A spokesperson for Orangetown police says officials from all three high schools are assisting them in their investigation along with the Clarkstown Police Department.
