Scarsdale mom charged with leaving her kids
A mother from Scarsdale appeared in White Plains City Court Tuesday to respond to an order of protection that was filed against her after she was charged with leaving her two children on the street, police say.
According to authorities, 45-year-old Madlyn Primoff, a Manhattan attorney, threw her two daughters out of the car on Post Road Sunday as a punishment for fighting among themselves. The woman then drove off, police say.
Investigators say Primoff's 12-year-old daughter managed to catch up with her mother's car, but the 10-year-old girl did not and was left on the street. A passerby saw the girl crying, bought her ice cream and called police.
Primoff's neighbors on Olmsted Road in Scarsdale were in disbelief after hearing news of the incident.
"It sounds extraordinarily out of character for them," says Seth Greenberg. "Until I talk to her, I can't believe any of it."
Primoff was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. On Tuesday, a judge modified an order of protection against Primoff, allowing her to see her daughters. Primoff is expected back in court next week.
