Angel figurines stolen from Army officer's grave
The family of a slain Hudson Valley solider is once again heartbroken after two angel figurines went missing from the Army officer's gravesite.
1st Lt. Lou Allen was killed in Iraq in 2005. Since his death, Allen's family members have visited Orange County Veterans Cemetery almost every day to remember him. They say the two angels that were hanging from a memorial tree were stolen recently. According to Allen's sister, this is the second time in eight months that a pair of angels was stolen from the site.
Allen's sister adds that the family did check with the groundskeepers, who did not move the angels.
Allen and Rockland native Capt. Philip Esposito died in a suspected fragging incident. A fellow solider stood trial for the murder of the officers, but was acquitted in December.
