Officials with the Town of Ramapo say they were never notified that a Monsey home was going to be demolished.

The house at 1 Carlton Road was supposed to be put on the auction block Thursday, but before anyone was allowed to place a bid, it was razed.

The Town of Ramapo Assessor's Office says no one had lived in the house since 2007 and it was foreclosed on in November. The assessor's office is trying to figure out if the owners, listed as Abraham and Ruth Miller, ordered the demolition but went about it illegally.

The Millers are due in court later this month.
