Man killed in accident with Wallkill officer

Wallkill police say a 20-year-old man was killed Sunday when his car collided with an officer's vehicle.
Police say the accident happened on Ingrassia Road near Howells Road when a purple Scion driven by 20-year-old Justin Perez, of Middletown, veered into the lane of the officer's police cruiser.
According to Wallkill police officials, the female officer's hip and wrist were broken. State Police, which is handling the investigation because it involved a police officer, say the preliminary investigation shows there was no way the officer could have avoided hitting Perez.
The investigation is ongoing.
