Business as usual at Westchester airport after crash
People waiting to board flights at the U.S. Airways terminal at the Westchester County Airport Thursday evening were talking about the Hudson River plane crash, but they were not going to let the accident stop them in their tracks.
?What are the chances of it happening twice?? says air traveler Teresa Lionetti. ?That's what my mother said.?
According to the FAA, U.S. Airways Flight 1549 made an emergency landing in the Hudson River at around 3:30 p.m., just minutes after taking off from LaGuardia Airport for Charlotte, N.C. The plane apparently struck a flock of birds that disabled its two engines.
All 150 passengers and five crew members aboard the plane survived.
At the Westchester County Airport, passengers checking in at the U.S. Airways counter were relieved that everything turned out the way it did.
?Normally, I fly out of LaGuardia, so I'm glad I flew out of White Plains this time,? says passenger Keith Clayton.
