Storm creates messy road conditions across HV
Residents are dealing with the icy aftermath of a winter blast that hit Westchester and the Hudson Valley Wednesday that wreaked havoc on and off the roads.An early morning ice-storm warning was put into effect for Orange, Rockland, Northern Westchester and Putnam counties, while Southern Westchester County was under a freezing rain advisory.?My family went out to work today and our driveway [was] just a sheet of ice,? says Sean Kiernan, of New City.
Trees and power lines were knocked down across the region, causing damage and outages. Broken tree limbs knocked out power along Buena Vista Road and also Badger Street in New City.
In Rockland and Orange counties, utility crews were out in force dealing with power outages to about 100 residents caused by ice that covered trees and power lines.
