Hudson Valley residents gear up for winter storm
Residents of Orange and Rockland counties were out in full force Tuesday, stocking up on supplies in preparation for the upcoming winter storm.
Guss Gaber, who works at Lowe?s in Orangeburg, says bags of salt were flying off the shelves throughout the day, and he could not replenish the stock quickly enough.
?It?s the ice, that's what scares me,? says Alyssa Sheridan, of Blauvelt. ?The snow we love, the snow we go out and play in it, but the ice is just something that we have to be prepared for.?
Local entrepreneurs like John Halligan, who owns the Park Steakhouse Restaurant, were also stocking up on salt to make sure that the ground surrounding their businesses is clean of snow and sleet.
Other residents spent the day preparing their shovels, scrapers, brushes and snow blowers ahead of the expected wintry mix.
