Family and friends mourned the loss of a Garrison man Sunday, who was shot to death near his garage shop on New Year?s Eve.

The first day of calling hours was held Sunday for John Marcinak at the Clinton Funeral Home on Parrott Street in Cold Spring. Marcinak was found mortally shot in front of his garage on Route 9. Putnam County authorities say an autopsy revealed the 49-year-old was shot several times next to his business.

Family and friends are making memorial donations to the Garrison Volunteer Fire Department. Calling hours will be held again Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact the sheriff's office at 845-225-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-313-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
